Note 298 – The Trapezius Muscle

Trapezius muscle.

Image via Wikipedia

I thought it was about time that I understood what muscles are causing the frequent pain I am experiencing in my head, neck and back. The doctor has told me today that it is a fan-shaped muscle started at the back of the head, so I decided to do some research.

Wikipedia explain that the trapezius is a large muscle that extends from the bone in the back of the head (the occipital bone), and down the spine. That’s exactly where I feel the pain on the right hand side and it’s now good to know which muscle to blame!

I’m sure there are other muscles involved, but I’m doing limited research tonight because I have to rest – doctors orders! I’m also being referred to a chiropractor, so they’ll probably come up with a whole heap of other long words – which will be useful for this blog.

As it probably doesn’t help sitting incorrectly at the computer, I’m being very good tonight and using my iphone to type this up instead – some might say that’s just as bad!

Must rest now.

Until tomorrow…
