I used to use my train journey to write until I moved jobs 5 plus year ago
I used to write in my journal at bedtime until I got too tired
I used to write in moleskin notebooks until I forgot where I put them
I used to type on my laptop until it stopped working
I used to write blogs most days until the inspiration stopped coming
I used to write…
… I could go on an on about what I used to do, but the bottom line is that I stopped making the time. I love writing – it’s been a passion of mine since I was four years old, and in recent years I’ve only being doing one or two blogs a year.
So, what’s changed?
This week, I have been focusing on decluttering; doing the daily stuff and also tackling the mound of stuff in the spare room. One day this week, as I got to the bottom of one of the boxes, words started popping into my head that I just needed to write down. I grabbed my ipad and thankfully the WordPress app fired up quickly and within minutes, I had written and published a blog post; the first in a while https://blog.sandramadeira.com/2018/08/21/start-at-the-front-door/.
Unleashing my writing voice
The only way I can describe the change is that I am quite unintentionally uncovering my writing voice through sorting the clutter. As I get rid of items, the words are flowing. I’m literally unleashing the words stuck in my head. It’s like my writing voice had been in a box in the spare room. I feel that this is reason enough for me to get rid of the clutter.
Until next time…
