If you’ve read the very first post of this blog, you will know that I was peeling potatoes when the idea popped into my head to create it. This was the beginning of my writing challenge ‘to learn a new writing tip each day for a year and blog about it to teach others’. I knew it would be hard work, but I was also very excited; not only was I going to learn loads, but I also didn’t know where it is was going to lead me.
Since then, so many opportunities have opened up for me. In May 2011, shortly after this blog began, I was reading Writing Magazine for ideas and an article caught my eye. This was the start of my work with OpenLeaf (a life coach & mentoring and also a publishing company), who are not only looking into publishing my book A Gift for Stressed and Busy Parents this year, but they are also giving me lots of other opportunities to work with them on blogging, writing courses and getting more involved in the social media side of things.
Last October, I decided to create another blog called My OpenLeaf Journey, which I hope will be also be published as a book one day. It tells the story of how my life has changed since I stumbled upon OpenLeaf. I post a blog once a week, usually on a Sunday, and I’m very excited about yesterday’s post ‘Discovering my purpose and passion in life’.
Another big development for me in October 2011 was when I had the courage to send my first article to Technorati (a blogging platform seen by millions every month) and they accepted it. I’ve now had 3 articles published as follows:
- Is work-life balance for a working parent a myth
- Beat insomnia: food and drink that can promote sleep
- Why cherries are such a great fruit
Other blogs that continue to tick along are Sandra’s space (blogs on life, parenting, health, stress and many more) and then there’s one more blog I contribute to at work.
I think that’s it!
I’ve got 76 days left of My Writing Challenge and then who knows? Each month brings me something new and I have an exciting feeling about this year. The icing on the cake will be when my first book gets published!
Until tomorrow…

Go you! 🙂
So what ARE you going to do at the end of your challenge? I think you should start all over again 😉
xx
I’ll definitely keep the site open and carry on blogging, but not sure if I will use the numbers at the beginning. I’d also like to organise some of the 366 blog posts into ebooks (by category e.g. difficult words, word comparisons, social media etc). What do you think?
I think an eBook is a brilliant idea hon 🙂
