As part of my plan to grow as a writer, I recently signed up to Technorati which is a blogging platform and search engine that publishes content to millions of people every month. Topics include entertainment, sport, latest news, parenting and many more. I received the news this week that they have accepted me as a writer and today I posted my first blog, which now needs to be reviewed by the editorial team – so fingers crossed!
Writing for Technorati
When submitting content it should be something that hasn’t been posted anywhere else before (they like it first!). They also show the posts on Twitter, Facebook and Google News so you can be confident that you will be seen by many people. There really isn’t anything to lose.
To see if writing for Technorati is for you, you can visit their site www.technorati.com and after you’ve had a browse, select the menu option ‘Write for Technorati’. Advantages include getting the chance to develop yourself as an expert and also “helping you establish your online brand”. You can even put links to your sites that show your web presence as a freelance writer, as well as any other blogs and sites that are relevant to you.
This blog post forms part of my writing challenge. Don’t forget that you can subscribe to receive my daily blogs by email so that you don’t miss any. Just click ‘sign me up’ on the home page. Alternatively you can follow my blogs on Twitter or my ‘Tips and Luxuries‘ Facebook page. Requests for future blogs (punctuation/grammar/writing tips) are always welcome.
Until tomorrow…

Thanks for this, it’s very helpful to know that other people have been there before – I think it’s a lack of confidence that prevents most people from using these great sites, especially Technorati.
Very well-written post! I’m seriously thinking about writing for them but too scared to apply. Thanks for sharing this info. Wonderful site you have here.
Thank you. I say, go for it! If it makes you feel better, I had my first draft rejected and could have stopped at that point; however, I took note of their advice (and they were really good about it) and wrote something else. When it got accepted and published, I was so excited. Just focus on how you will feel when you see your post published…
Good luck, Sandra
Hi Sandra & thanks for posting — your site is great! I’m wondering if Technorati pays their writers? I notice that blogging doesn’t seem to pay too much (about 5-15 dollars per post) but editors seem to believe that the real pay comes in the high exposure on Google (which is tough to acquire for mere mortals!). Anyway, if you don’t mind sharing that info, it would be appreciated. Thanks & good luck with your writing!
Hi Melinda
Thanks for your comment. No, Technorati don’t pay their writers, but you can earn money from Google Adsense online ads that Technorati place on your posts. Google Adsense is a free program that allows onine publishers to earn money by displaying ads on their online content. To do this with Technorati you have to have a Google Adsense account and giving Technorati the account number.
Hope that helps.
Good luck with your writing too!
Sandra
