To mark the milestone of my 200th blog on my daily My Writing Challenge I thought I’d show you something a little different. Did you know that The Free Dictionary (by Farlex) is more than just a dictionary, thesaurus and encyclopedia? The link above will take you to their home page which has a whole range of information and fun activities such as word games, latest articles, quote of the day and latest news.
If you don’t like the layout of the homepage, The Free Dictionary allows you to customise it by dragging and dropping the existing content to suit your needs and you can also add your own bookmarks and RSS feeds from anywhere on the web.
Hangman, word of the day and article of the day are just a few of the activities showing on the default home page. I just won at hangman by guessing the word ‘applet’ but lost on the matching game; however, I did learn some new words in the process. The ‘spelling bee’ section tests you by giving you a definition of a word which you have to spell in the space provided.
I’ve been on a Software Testing Course in London today so I must sign off to do some revision for Friday’s exam. Only 166 blogs to go before the end of My Writing Challenge.
If you decide to try out the games on The Free Dictionary website – good luck.
This blog post forms part of My Writing Challenge.
Until tomorrow…
